Hired: Support Teacher

Streams of Hope • June, 28 2023

We are excited to introduce you to Sarah Chordas!

Mrs. Chordas (pronounced cord-us) is joining us as a full time Support Teacher for the 23/24 school year and will be working with Mrs. Harvey. Sarah obtained her Bachelors degree in Visual Arts Education from Ball State University in 2007. Since graduation, she has worked in a variety of educational settings such as public school, homeschool co-ops, and in-home private art tutoring.  She believes that art is powerful tool, not only for educational purposes, but therapeutic purposes as well. It has the potential to increase confidence, focus our minds,  and help us work through problems that words cannot express. She loves trying different types of media, but her favorites are quilting, hand sewing, and painting. In addition to teaching art in a variety of ways, she has also homeschooled her son, Rowan, who will be joining us at Streams of Hope this fall!

Her educational vision: "I truly believe that we all have our own unique learning style.  It is my job to guide students in the right direction, providing instruction and feedback, but also allowing room for personal expression. As a teacher, it is important to know when to lead and when to step back and let the students fly on their own."
